Chiken Satay with Peanut Sauce, Balinese Food

Chiken Satay with Peanut Sauce is a delicious Indonesian dish that's popular not only in Bali but throughout the country. Here's a simple recipe for you to try making at home:

**Ingredients:**
- 1 kg chicken breasts, thinly sliced
- Bamboo skewers, soaked in water
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp kecap manis (sweet soy sauce)
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for grilling

**For the Peanut Sauce:**
- 200g roasted peanuts, finely ground
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 shallot, minced
- 1 tsp shrimp paste
- 1 tbsp kecap manis
- 1 tbsp tamarind paste
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- Salt and sugar to taste
- Water as needed

**Instructions:**

1. In a bowl, combine garlic, coriander, cumin, turmeric, soy sauce, kecap manis, brown sugar, salt, and pepper. Marinate the chicken slices in this mixture for at least 2 hours or overnight.

2. Thread the marinated chicken slices onto bamboo skewers.

3. Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Brush with oil to prevent sticking.

4. Grill the chicken skewers for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until cooked through and slightly charred.

5. For the peanut sauce, heat some oil in a pan and sauté garlic and shallot until fragrant.

6. Add the ground peanuts, shrimp paste, kecap manis, tamarind paste, coconut milk, salt, sugar, and water. Simmer for a few minutes until the sauce thickens.

7. Serve the grilled chicken skewers with the peanut sauce on the side. Enjoy your homemade Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce, a taste of Balinese cuisine! Selamat makan! (Enjoy your meal!)
